FAQ - Reiki
-
Q: How long does a Reiki session take?
A: Most sessions last 45-60 minutes, but shorter or longer sessions are available. Our first session will require approximately 75 minutes to understand your reasons for wanting Reiki and to gather a short medical history to determine the best approach for your session.
-
Q: Do I need to do anything special to prepare?
A: Wear comfy clothes, ensure that you routinely drink at least 2 litres of water or non caffeinated drinks each day, and avoid heavy meals beforehand.
-
Q: Can Reiki help with chronic pain or illness?
A: Reiki can complement medical treatments and support well-being, but it’s not a substitute for medical care. Always consult your healthcare provider.
-
Q: Can children or seniors receive Reiki?
A: Yes! Reiki is gentle and safe for all ages.
Parent/guardian approval is required for under 16 year olds and for safe guarding reasons they must remain with the young client throughout.
-
Q: How often should I have Reiki?
A: Some people come weekly, fortnightly or monthly for maintenance, others drop in as needed. Listen to your body’s cues.
-
Q: How do I get the most from my Reiki treatments?
Avoid arriving rushed or stressed: Give yourself time to settle before and after.
Don’t expect dramatic results after one session: Reiki effects can be subtle and cumulative.
Don’t compare your experience to others: Everyone’s session is unique. Focus on your own feelings and body.
DO NOT skip post-session hydration: Water aids energy flow and integration.
Communicate discomfort: I want you to be comfortable; let me know if something isn’t working for you.
-
Q: When can I not be treated?
A: I can not treat persons with notifiable diseases under the current Public Health (Control of Disease and Infectious diseases) Act. I will not treat persons who threaten or abuse me or persons around me or those people I think would be better served by support from other medical practitioners or healthcare professionals. I will supply contact information for those services in such instances. Reiki is a powerful adjuvant to many allopathic therapies not a replacement.
-
Q: Can you treat my pet?
A: Reiki may be used to provide treatment to all animals with the agreement of a veterinarian and/or the owner. I do not currently offer this service but some other practitioners do.
